Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret. Banned

New York: Suckadelic. Original bootleg action figure in blister pack and color-printed backing card (measures 8.5" x 6.5").

"We must, we must, we must increase our bust." Original banned book bootleg action figure for Judy Blume's YA classic Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret (1970), in blister pack and illustrated backing card, signed on the back by the Super Sucklord. Notorious artworld prankster Morgan Phillips began his pop pastiche career producing sculpey figurines in the mid-1990s, but it wasn't until he adopted the moniker "Supergenius," selling his low-rent Star Wars breakbeat CDs, that he made his first desperate grasp at world domination. Phillips next merged his two loves—sculpture and Star Wars—in his signature bootleg mashup, the "Gay Empire Homotrooper," and has continued to churn out a seemingly endless stream of shoddily produced, crassly marketed action figure knockoffs and bootlegs, with his work trading at Christie’s and Phillips auction houses, as well as other less reputable venues. Signed "$L66," Phillips's shorthand. Fine. Item #8714
