Born Gaspard-Félix Tournachon, Nadar is primarily remembered for his photo portraits although he also worked as a writer and caricaturist. The first ever full-scale collection of his work, this survey comprises an extensive biography of Nadar along with short bios of both the major and minor writers, artists, actors, composers, singers, and dancers from his photos, including Baudelaire (his close friend), George Sand, Victor Hugo, Gioacchino Rossini, and Sarah Bernhardt.
