Progressions. Tauba Auerbach. R.H. Quaytman

London: Inigo Philbrick, 2014. 1st Edition. Octavo, publisher’s gray cloth, spine and upper board stamped in red, scarlet endpapers.

Catalog published in conjunction with an exhibition of work by American visual artists Tauba Auerbach and R.H. Quaytman held at art dealer Inigo Philbrick’s London gallery in 2014. Working in a wide variety of mediums, Auerbach is known for her experimentation with light, depth perception, and dimensionality in her paintings, sculptures, and photography. Primarily working on wood panels, Quaytman combines painted and silk-screened images with abstract and photographic elements depicting multilayered subjects. Intending to "challenge conventional notions of painting’s capacity for illusion," the show presented Auerbach’s ongoing series of "Fold" and "Wave" paintings and Quaytman’s silkscreens. With an essay by art critic Herbert Martin. In 2022, gallerist Philbrick was sentenced to seven years in prison for wire fraud. Illustrated with color plates. No dust jacket, as issued. Corners slightly banged, else fine. Item #7410
