Berkeley, CA: Last Gasp of San Francisco, 1985. 1st Edition. Quarto, publisher's illustrated stiff paper wraps.
Mid-1980s collection of interviews and profiles of artists working in the territory between obscurity and fame, conducted by Belsito. The lineup includes Mark Pauline, Matt Heckert and Eric Werner of Survival Research Laboratories on their machine performances; Diamanda Galás; Reverend Ivan Stang and fellow officials of the Church of the SubGenius; Robert Anton Wilson; Jim Jarmusch, fresh off Stranger Than Paradise; performance artist Michael Peppe; Françoise Mouly and Art Spiegelman on RAW; Keith Haring; Jello Biafra of the Dead Kennedys; and Spalding Gray. Each interview is accompanied by black-and-white portraits and various other illustrations. Laid in is a 1984 folding catalog for Nervous Records and a 8" x 10" black-and-white print of the NYC rockabilly band Kristi Rose and the Midnight Walkers. Some shelfwear, old sticker residue to upper wrap. Very good. Item #13482
