"This book comes at a time in my life when I am searching for answers." Japanese monograph by Keith Haring published 1989, one year before his death from AIDS-related complications. During his brief but prolific career, Haring invented a universe of babies, barking dogs, dancing figures and squiggly lines rendered in bold lines and bright colors, often grappling with political and social causes, particularly relating to AIDS. Issued as number 6 in art book publisher Kyoto Shoin's "ArT RANDOM" series supervised by Hungarian-American art critic Edit DeAK, this catalog comprises reproductions of a scrapbook collage Haring produced by gluing mementos (clippings, drawings, letters) to sheets of paper and painting over them in red and green gouache and sumi ink. Illustrated with color plates. Text in English and Japanese. No dust jacket, as issued. Trace of sticker residue to lower board. Approximately 1 1/2" abrasions to top fore-edges of boards.
