First edition anthology of musician, performance artist, and writer Lisa Crystal Carver's notorious early 1990s zine Rollerderby. Also known as Lisa Suckdog, Carver is regarded as a trailblazer of the 1980s and 90s underground punk counterculture, infamous for her "gore opera" music and her influential post-gonzo zine Rollerderby (unrelated, except spiritually, to the sport). The zine was Carver’s vehicle for writing about sex, celebrity, feminism, underground music, gossip, motherhood, beauty, humiliation, and relationships among other obsessions and autobiographical material. Begun in 1990 after other zines rejected her pieces that were perceived as trivial or overly personal, Rollerderby also frequently featured interviews with major figures of the era such as Kim Gordon, Lydia Lunch, Liz Phair, GG Allin, Royal Trux, Cristina Martinez, Vaginal Davis, and Courtney Love (famously featuring an argument she is having with Kurt Cobain in the background). This compendium collects most of the material from the zine’s first sixteen issues, along with updates, corrections, and commentary by Carver throughout.
