Inscribed first edition photobook by early punk documentarian David Godlis, known mononymously as Godlis, with an introduction by his friend and longtime East Village neighbor Jim Jarmusch. Inspired by Arbus, Winogrand, Weegee, and most prominently Brassaï and his use of natural light, Godlis began as a street photographer in the early 1970s. He chronicled the emerging punk movement in real time, taking now iconic photos of Blondie, the Ramones, Richard Hell, Talking Heads, Television, and Patti Smith. This monograph compiles over a hundred of his images, many featuring his most frequent subjects, alongside lesser-known shots of Jarmusch, Klaus Nomi, Lydia Lunch, Diego Cortez, James Chance, Anya Phillips, Alex Chilton, Roberta Bayley, Nico, and Lester Bangs, among other legends of the era. Illustrated with black-and-white plates. Inscribed by Godlis in black marker to the half-title: "For Stephan, / [drawing of an arrow] / Keep making history right now! / Godlis xxx / 9-10-18."
