Issue number 4 of short-lived New York psychedelic magazine Inner Space, an offshoot of the East Village Other. Established by environmentalist Linn House (later known as Freeman House) in 1966, the magazine functioned as a forum for the psychedelic community, addressing LSD, alternative spirituality, communal living, drug legislation, and countercultural politics. This issue captures a moment when psychedelic culture was broadening from experimentation with LSD into a larger countercultural program, with an essay by the founder of the Psychedelic Information Center Lisa Bieberman on the changing status of LSD; an exchange with psychiatrist Humphry Osmond concerning the term "psychedelic"; Michael Bowen’s report on the January 1967 Human Be-In in San Francisco; and a feature on Drop City, the experimental Colorado commune whose geodesic structures drew on the ideas of Buckminster Fuller. Inner Space ran to five issues, published between 1966-67. Illustrated with photos, drawings, and reproductions printed in green. Some rubbing, soiling, and edgewear to wraps. Very good. Item #13312
