Oversized catalog published in conjunction with a posthumous exhibition of work by American artist Ad Reinhardt, held at Jock Truman’s New York gallery in 1976. Primarily known as an abstract painter, Reinhardt also maintained a parallel career as a prolific cartoonist and illustrator, producing over one thousand cartoons, maps, and illustrations for PM newspaper in the 1940s and 50s and later contributing art world satire to ARTnews and trans/formation. The Truman Gallery show, a result of Truman helping Reinhardt’s widow Anna evaluate and manage his artistic estate, is credited for expanding the public awareness of the artist’s work outside of his better known "Black Paintings." This incomplete catalog comprises four loose, folded, oversized sheets printed to both sides with Reinhardt's comics (originally issued with seven folded sheets), and an essay by longtime New Yorker art critic Peter Schjeldahl.
