Collection of "denim fetishism" photography sourced from pioneering beefcake photographer Bob Mizer’s Athletic Model Guild (AMG), selected by John Embry under his pseudonym Robert Payne. The founder of legendary leather subculture magazine Drummer (1975-99), Embry rejected the "sissy" stereotypes of gay men marketed by mainstream media in the mid-20th century by presenting images of buff models in motorcycle wear, combat boots, and denim. An ode to the rugged American outdoorsman, The Levis Crowd contains thirty-six pages of men posing as sailors, cowboys, motorcylists, and linemen in varied denim styles, and features a centerfold of American porn actor Fred Halsted.
