Issue number seventeen of the iconic 21st century "Magazine for Homosexuals." Established in 2001 by Dutch publishers Gert Jonkers and Jop van Bennekom (of Fantastic Man and The Gentlewoman) in Amsterdam, Butt aimed to challenge the mainstream, often commodified, gay aesthetic by presenting authentic and at times gritty depictions of real men. Always printed on pink paper, the international quarterly featured interviews with and candid portraits of the gay community and quickly became a pioneering force in queer media throughout the aughts. This issue features a cover shot of Edmind White by Jonkers, interviews with White, Gus Van Sant, Wolfgang Tillmans, Helmut Land, photos by Tillmans, Heinz Peter Knes, beefcake spreads, reader submitted photos, and more.
