Catalog published in conjunction with a posthumous exhibition of work by American figurative painter Alice Neel held at New York’s Robert Miller Gallery in 1986. Organized by gallery director John Cheim, the show presented sketches, graphite drawings, and watercolors of people, objects, and skyscapes Neel created throughout her extensive career. Illustrated with ten tipped-in color plates and 22 black-and-white reproductions, including two studio portraits of Neel; with the transcript of the memorial address delivered by art historian and former Whitney Museum director Jack Baur at the memorial service following Neel’s death in 1984.
