Catalog published on the occasion of an exhibition of work by Latvian-American artist Vija Celmins held at the Metropolitan Museum in 2002. Celebrated for her photo-realistic paintings and drawings of environmental imagery and everyday objects, Celmins has also worked in woodcuts and printing since 1981. The first retrospective of her graphic and print works, the show presented fifty master prints of ocean surfaces, night skies, desert floors, and spider webs that she created using intaglio, lithography, mezzotint, and relief printing.
