Montage digital print by Black printmaker and photographer Ted Pontiflet of an elder James Baldwin speaking on a panel. In 2004, Pontiflet created a series of montage digital prints mapping Baldwin’s face over various Harlem streetscapes in honor of what would have been his 80th birthday. The series showcased at the NYPL’s Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture the year to coincide with the USPS’s ceremony honoring their Baldwin postage stamp. This print is signed by Pontiflet in gold marker, with edit notes in crayon and production notes in print to the bottom margin. Fine. Item #12938
