Journies End In Young Man’s Meeting
Los Angeles: Little Caesar Press, 1979. 1st Edition. Octavo, publisher’s stiff photo-illustrated paper wraps.
Late poetry collection by British avant-garde writer, artist, filmmaker, and critic Oswell Blakeston. Born Henry Joseph Hasslacher, Blakeston wrote extensively for the modernist film magazine Close Up, co-directed the experimental film Light Rhythms, and later produced poetry, fiction, criticism, travel writing, and cookbooks under a pseudonym derived from Osbert Sitwell and his mother’s maiden name. Published by queer cult writer Dennis Cooper’s Little Caesar Press, an offshoot of his anarchist, punk-inspired literary journal of the same name, this gathering comprises selections from Blaketon’s previous poetry collections published from the early 1930s to the late 60s. Cover photographs by Peter Warfield. Ink notation to last page. Moderate rubbing to wraps. Very good. Uncommon. Item #12928
