Crackers
Hollywood, CA: Heavy Industry Publications, 1969. 1st Edition. Octavo, publisher's stiff tan paper wraps, original printed dust jacket.
Artist's book by Los Angeles-based multimedia artist Ed Ruscha, self-published under his imprint Heavy Industry Publications. Consisting of 115 black-and-white photos featuring LA art scenesters Larry Bell, Léon Bing, Rudi Gernreich, and Tommy Smothers, this "photo-novella" dramatizes a surrealist short story by composer and writer Mason Williams titled "How to Derive the Maximum Enjoyment from Crackers.” Williams’s story is reproduced in small print on the dust jacket’s rear flap. Tail of spine lightly bumped, light toning to wraps; unclipped dust jacket with moderate chipping to spine-ends, some edgewear, and light toning. Very good. Item #12909
