Gold and Silver Drawings. A Daybook
London: Anthony d'Offay, 1994. 1st Edition. Quarto, publisher's marbled gray paper-covered boards, spine and upper board stamped in black, attached silver silk bookmark, original illustrated dust jacket.
Desk calendar for 1995 featuring Andy Warhol’s gold and silver drawings, produced in conjunction with an exhibition at the Anthony d’Offay gallery in London. Prior to his reign as the King of Pop Art from the early 1960s until his death in 1987, Warhol worked as a freelance children’s book illustrator and a commercial artist for Tiffany's, the Times, and Vogue, among other major labels and publications. Highlighting this oft overlooked aspect of Warhol’s oeuvre, the exhibition presented works using his blotted line technique incorporating gold and silver leaf, including his botanical illustrations and gold shoe collages. Functioning as the exhibition’s catalog, this monthly diary for 1995 includes twelve color plates reproducing a selection of the drawings. With the gallery's gift slip laid in. Unclipped dust jacket with light soiling. Near fine. Item #12907
