First edition of late Aussie model, actress, and photographer June Newton’s visual autobiography. Born June Browne, Newton, a Melbourne native, began her career as a theater actress. To make additional income during this period, she answered a newspaper ad for modeling work, which led her to meet her husband, fashion photographer Helmut Newton. In 1970, she began taking photographs when he became ill on set, leading her to pursue the medium on her own while adopting the pseudonym Alice Springs. Fully authored by Newton, this monograph-memoir comprises reminiscences, diary passages, and a diverse range of photographs, both professional and personal, with details on her Roman Catholic upbringing and her marriage to and creative partnership with Helmut. Notably, this book was published only months before he died in a car accident in 2004. Upon his death, she completed the Helmut Newton Foundation, which she managed until her passing in 2021.
