Presentation copy first edition monograph on influential American painter Jane Dickson, inscribed to photographer Marcia Resnick. A key figure in the late 1970s and early 80s East Village scene as a member of the artist collectives Colab (Collaborative Projects Inc., which organized the seminal "Times Square Show" in 1980) and Fashion Moda, Dickson is celebrated for her depictions of urban life that document the "psychogeography" of American culture. Her work has been the subject of many solo exhibitions and group exhibitions internationally. This monograph features her research photos, drawings, and paintings of Times Square prior to the redevelopment of the area led by mayor Ed Koch, with a foreword by Chris Kraus, an interview conducted by Carlo McCormick, and an afterword by Fab 5 Freddy. Inscribed by Dickson in gold marker to title page: "For Marcia / w/admiration! / XO Jane." Born in Brooklyn, Marcia Resnick is best known for chronicling the downtown scene of the 1970s and 80s in real time, taking portraits of musicians, artists, filmmakers, and writers such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, John Belushi, Iggy Pop, Andy Warhol, and Susan Sontag, and for her regular feature in the SoHo Weekly News, "Resnicks Believe-It-or-Not."
