Eating Through Living
New York: Tanam Press, 1981. 1st Edition. Octavo, publisher’s stiff printed wraps.
"I'VE ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT BRAINS, TUMORS, AND CAULIFLOWER LOOK ABOUT THE SAME AND I ALWAYS PICTURE THEM ON WHITE PLATES." Artist’s book produced by conceptual artists Jenny Holzer and Peter Nadin, published by the short-lived yet influential Tanam Press. From 1979 to 1982, Holzer and Nadin collaborated on a variety of projects including plaques, posters, publications, window displays, and gallery exhibitions. Produced while they were both members of art collective The Offices (of Fend, Fitzgibbon, Holzer, Nadin, Prince & Winters), Eating Through Living comprises disquieting ruminations by Holzer with Nadin's illustrations inspired by food, pleasure, and the body. Established in 1980 by Reese Williams, Tanam produced a diverse array of innovative works over the course of its five-year run including LP recordings and books integrating poetry, prose, photography, film, and video. Illustrated in black-and-white. Light edgewear to wraps. Near fine. Item #12736
