First edition collection of prolific American fantasy artist Jeff Catherine Jones’s long-running comic. Jones first gained recognition in the late 1960s for her work with Warren Publishing before moving toward easel painting in the 70s. (In the 90s, Jones publicly transitioned and began working under the name Jeffrey Catherine Jones.) Published in National Lampoon over the course of four years and reflecting her pivot to painting, the Idyl one-strip comics are self-contained scenes structured around mood and gesture rather than plot or punchline, drawing inspiration from the Pre-Raphaelites, classical myth, and illustrators such as N.C.
