Stephanie Seymour's Beauty Secrets for Dummies

Foster City, CA: IDG Books Worldwide, 1998. 1st Edition. Small quarto, publisher's stiff photo-illustrated paper wraps.

Presentation copy of American supermodel Stephanie Seymour’s guidebook, inscribed by her to celebrity stylist and beauty industry pioneer Maury Hopson. Published when she was at the peak of her fame during the 1990s, this installment in the iconic "For Dummies" guidebook series contains advice on cosmetics and skincare, hairstyles for different occasions, time-saving techniques, skincare routine, and more, with extensive Q&As, a preface by Fergie, the former Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson, and photos by celebrated makeup artist François Nars. Inscribed by Seymour in blue ink to verso of first page: "To Maury / Stephanie," and additionally signed in black marker to the "About the Author" page. Hairstylist Maury Hopson made his break in the 1960s working for the renowned Mr. Kenneth (Kenneth Battelle), considered the first celebrity hair dresser. He left the salon to become a freelance stylist in 1965, embarking on what would become a multi-decade career. He worked closely with Seymour, Elizabeth Taylor (he was a key member of her "glam squad" along with photographer Francesco Scavullo and makeup artist Way Bandy), Sigourney Weaver, Christie Brinkley, and Cheryl Tiegs, among many others. Illustrated with color and black-and-white photos in color (cover photo by Patrick Demarchelier), and black-and-white drawings and diagrams; with a glossary of beauty terms, an appendix of beauty resources, and an index. First printing with complete number row to copyright page. Fine. Item #12586
