E.A.T. News. Volume 1, Nos. 1-4, Volume 2, No. 1

New York: Experiments in Art and Technology, Inc., 1968. Quarto, publisher’s stapled printed paper wraps.

Compilation issue of nonprofit Experiments in Art and Technology (E.A.T.)’s newsletter. Established in 1966 in New York by engineer Billy Klüver, engineer Fred Waldhauer, and artists Robert Rauschenberg and Robert Whitman, E.A.T. was created to facilitate collaborations between artists, engineers, and scientists on tech driven projects. Expanding on the impact of the 1966 performance series "9 Evenings: Theatre & Engineering," organized with support from Bell Telephone Laboratories, the group formalized a model that connected creative practitioners with technical experts to execute experimental works. E.A.T. launched their newsletter on January 15, 1967, edited by Julie Martin. After five issues of E.A.T. News, it was divided into E.A.T. Operations and Information and the two-issue newspaper TECHNE. This collected volume comprises all five issues, which includes information on the purpose and function of the organization, equipment, special projects, local groups, conferences, events, lectures, and more. Illustrated with black-and-white with photos. Light toning, soiling, creasing and edgewear to wraps. Very good. Scarce. Item #12527
