Lynda Benglis. Dual Natures

Atlanta, GA: High Museum of Art, 1991. 1st Edition. Quarto, publisher's stiff photo-illustrated paper wraps, french flaps.

Catalog published in conjunction with a traveling retrospective of work by American artist and sculptor Lynda Benglis, held at Atlanta’s High Museum of Art in 1991. In the 1960s Benglis began her career as a painter, frequently using wax and latex, which led to her transition into sculptural works. She gained prominence for her "pours," or "fallen paintings," and in the 70s she developed her "knot" sculptures, created with wire screen, bunting, and metallic materials. Curated by art historian Susan Krane, the show presented a wide-ranging selection of her sculptures from the 60s up to 1990, including her groundbreaking video works from the mid-70s. Illustrated with color and black-and-white plates; with an exhibition history, bibliography, and exhibition checklist. Minor rubbing and edgewear to wraps. Near fine. Item #12415
