Lesbian Twins
Fresno, CA: Vega Books, 1960. 1st Edition. 12mo, publisher’s stiff illustrated paper wraps.
Early 1960s lesbian pulp concerning Bill, a man simultaneously titillated and vexed by the unusual relationship between twin sisters Hilda and Jane, published by Vega Books, one of failed writer-turned-publisher Sanford Aday’s numerous publishing outfits. While many lesbian pulp novels of the 1950s and 60s were sensationalized by and for straight men, they inadvertently offered representation for closeted lesbian readers. Aday infamously drew the ire of morality groups such as Charles H. Keating’s Citizens for Decent Literature and was later convicted on obscenity charges (subsequently overturned by the Supreme Court). Cover illustration likely by "king of absurd erotic paperback art" Bill Edwards. Publisher's catalog number V-2. Some rubbing and light wedgewear to wraps. Very good. Item #12384
