Tastemakers of the era contribute to the issue, including a regular column on the latest clubs and scenes by Stephen Saban; an art gallery round-up by Cookie Mueller (including mention of Jean-Michel Basquiat's first show, at Annina Nosei Gallery); reviews of downtown restaurants Da Silvano, the Empire Diner and the Riviera Cafe by Hal Rubinstein; divine 80s streetwear shot by Bill Cunningham; and a collection of photos of sailors on leave in Waikiki by Weber (originally commissioned for, and rejected by, L'Uomo Vogue, and preceding their appearance in Weber's first photobook the following year). Ads for downtown clubs, restaurants and boutiques – including Danceteria, Trash and Vaudeville, and Patricia Field's Attitude amongst others – are peppered among the features.
