Up They Rise. The Incomplete Works of Jamie Reid
London: Faber & Faber Limited, 1987. 1st Edition. Quarto, publisher’s stiff illustrated paper wraps.
First edition survey of English artist Jamie Reid, authored by music critic and punk historian Jon Savage. Celebrated for his cut-and-paste graphics that fused Situationist politics with street-level design, Reid is credited with shaping the visual language of British punk. Through his collaborations with the Sex Pistols and their manager Malcolm McLaren, he produced some of the most recognizable imagery of the era, including the album art for the Pistols' Anarchy in the UK and God Save the Queen. This compendium of his work gathers posters, collages, flyers, and agit-prop graphics, including his pre-punk experiments for his print-based collective and magazine Suburban Press and the majority of his Sex Pistols work. Illustrated in black-and-white. MoMA price sticker to lower wrap. Minor toning and soiling to wraps. Near fine. Item #12267
