Dennis Oppenheim. Retrospective - Works 1967-1977
Montréal: Musée d'Art Contemporain, 1978. 1st Edition. Quarto, publisher’s stiff photo-illustrated paper wraps.
Catalog published in conjunction with a retrospective of work by American artist Dennis Oppenheim held at the Musee d'Art Contemporain in Montreal, in 1978. From the mid-1960s until his death in 2011, Oppenheim worked across conceptual, performance, earth and body art. This catalog focuses on the development of his artistic philosophy from 1967 to 1977, with curator Alain Parent highlighting a series of "transfers" that take place across Oppenheim’s earthworks, performances, and installations. Illustrated with black-and-white (and some color) photos, drawings, and reproductions; with texts by Peter Frank and Lisa Kahane, and a foreword by Louise Letacha, a biography, exhibition history, bibliography, and list of works. Text in English and French. Light toning and edgewear to wraps. Very good. Item #12170
