12 Décors Textiles de Marc Camille Chaimowicz. Créés chez Jean Louis Lhopital
Lyon, France: Comportement Environnement Performance, 1983. 1st Edition. Quarto, publisher’s stiff illustrated paper wraps, two original fabric swatches tipped in.
Catalog of French artist Marc Camille Chaimowicz’s textile work. Born in postwar Paris to a Catholic mother (Marie Tailhardt, a seamstress who worked at the house of Paquin) and Jewish father, Chaimowicz spent the majority of his life in London working across design, painting, printmaking, collage, and the decorative arts. This catalog was produced upon his stay at the apartment of fellow French artist Jean Lhopital, where he was given the opportunity to use his studio and tools to create decorative textiles, a dozen of which are illustrated here, with two original hand-printed fabric swatches tipped in. Illustrated in color and black-and-white; with text by art critic Hubert Besacier in French and English. One of 1000 unnumbered copies. Some soiling to wraps. Very good. Scarce. Item #12163
