Modo: Mensile di Informazione sul Design. Anno 4, Numero 26, Gennaio-Febbraio 1980
Milan: R.D.E. Ricerche Design Editrice, 1980. Quarto, publisher’s stapled illustrated paper wraps.
January-February 1980 issue of Alessandro Mendini’s influential postmodern design monthly. An Italian designer, architect, and theorist, Mendini first garnered attention as editor of Casabella and Domus, where he championed an unconventional design philosophy. In the late 1970s, he joined Studio Alchimia and later cofounded the Memphis Group with Ettore Sottsass, while also spearheading Modo. A key platform for the intersections of art, fashion, and architecture, the publication featured contributions by Sottsass, Enzo Mari, Giulio Carlo Argan, Gillo Dorfles, Barbara Radice, and Lea Vergine, among others. This issue, with a cover by Mauro Cavallero, includes work by Andrea Branzi, an interview with Maurizio Nichetti, and articles on Lea Vergine’s exhibition on women in avant-garde art, "unwearable clothes," and more. Illustrated with color and black-and-white photos, drawings, and reproductions. Text primarily in Italian, with some in English. Some rubbing to wraps. Very good. Item #11997
