Catalog published in conjunction with an exhibition by Canadian artist and graphic designer David Buchan held at the Glenbow Museum in Calgary, in 1979. Primarily a performance artist who also worked in video and photography, Buchan was a key figure in the downtown Toronto arts scene in the mid-1970s and 80s He died from AIDS-related complications in 1992. His "Modern Fashions" series is composed of parodied, self-referential fashion photos in the vein of Esquire ads from late 1950s and early 60s. Illustrated with black-and-white photos (cover photos in color) and reproductions; with a preface by Glenbow curator Jeffrey J. Spalding and a performance bibliography.
