Nest: A Quarterly of Interiors. Fall 2001. #14
New York: Nest, 2001. Quarto, publisher's illustrated stiff paper wraps, original plastic dust jacket with pocket and CD.
Issue number 14 of trailblazing interiors magazine Nest. Founded by designer and painter Joseph Holtzman as a counter to traditional interior design magazines, the publication quickly achieved cult status for its features on unconventional "nests," as well as for its eccentric layouts (die-cut pages and covers, elaborate inserts), ornate typography, and striking photo editorials. Each issue of the magazine, which ran for a total of 26 issues from 1997 to 2004, was luxuriously produced and uniquely formatted. The quarterly famously scared off Condé Nast, which had plans to buy Nest until the Spring 2004 issue dropped, with its cover painting of Jesus and a feature on "The Ten Commandments of Decorating." The magazine soon folded, according to Holtzman "when it was still good." Illustrated throughout in color. With original CD. Light edgewear. Near fine. Item #11680
