On the Sunny Street

Tokyo: CBS/Sony Publishing Inc., 1983. 2nd Printing. Quarto, publisher's stiff illustrated paper wraps, french flaps.

Second printing monograph by Japanese artist Eizin Suzuki. Beginning his career in advertising design, Suzuki made his debut as an illustrator of lithographs and silkscreens in the 1980s. He is best known for his nostalgia-drenched Americana depicted in bright colors, bold lines, and flat planes, with his work appearing frequently in Japanese men's magazine Popeye. His debut book, On the Sunny Street combines his earliest noncommercial work with narrative text by Yoshio Kataoka. Illustrated in color. Text in Japanese and English. Originally published in 1982. Slightly overopened at upper and lower hinges, small abrasion to tail of spine from sticker removal, light rubbing and edgewear to wraps. Very good. Item #11635
