Swiss photographer and cinematographer Presser's first book, with 72 pop-infused high-contrast black-and-white plates, most full-bleed. Presser, who has worked internationally as a commercial, fashion and travel photographer, and published his own short-lived photography newspapers The Village Cry and Palm Beach News in the 1970s, is best known for his several photobooks on German filmmaker Werner Herzog and actor Klaus Kinski, with whom he worked during the production of Herzog's films Fitzcarraldo and Cobra Verde. Speaking about the influence of film on his photography, Presser has said: "When I worked as an assistant photographer in Paris, always after work I took the Metro, went to the Cinémathèque Française, and sat there from six in the evening till two in the morning, watching one film after another. Movies are an excellent school for photographers to learn about movement, composition, light, music, makeup, and most important how a story is constructed. While Lustrum's US paperback edition of the same year sold well, the present superior hardcover issue (published by IAC in an edition of 1000 copies) disappeared from the marketplace shortly after publication, when the company went bankrupt.
