Original promo poster for George Butler’s documentary film, based on his book of the same name, the little-seen sequel to his 1977 Pumping Iron. Visually chronicling the 1983 Caesars World Cup of Bodybuilding in Las Vegas, hosted by Paris Review founder George Plimpton, the film centers on four female competitors: Bev Francis, Rachel McLish (featured on the poster), Carla Dunlap, and Randy Rice. While it received mixed reviews and was not as successful as its predecessor, it was notably praised by Gloria Steinem, who published her analysis of the film in her collection Moving Beyond Words: Age, Rage, Sex, Power, Money, Muscles: Breaking the Boundaries of Gender (1994).
