London: Faber and Faber, 1998. 2nd UK Printing. Octavo, publisher's photo-illustrated wraps.

First novel of filmmaker Van Sant (Drugstore Cowboy, My Own Private Idaho, Good Will Hunting), a roman à clef about underground filmmakers in the Pacific Northwest, inspired by the 1993 death of River Phoenix, who starred in Private Idaho, and with whom Van Sant had become close. (Among other real-life personalities depicted in the book are Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain, the subject of Van Sant's 2005 fiction feature Last Days.) Illustrated with drawings by the author. Light scuffing to wraps, with adhesive label residue to lower wrap. Very good. Item #90
