Ettore Sottsass

Paris: Centre Georges Pompidou, 1994. Quarto, publisher's illustrated white stiff paper self-wraps.

Scarce catalog printed on the occasion of the 1994 Ettore Sottsass retrospective at the Centre Georges Pompidou. Sottsass was originally trained as an architect before founding the influential 1980s Italian "Nuovo Design" group Memphis. This volume was conceived of partially as a traditional exhibition catalog but also as an autobiography, containing interviews, travel writings, and black-and-white reproductions of Sottsass’s illustrations alongside color reproductions of works from the show. Includes essays by François Barré and Italian architect Andrea Branzi, a bibliography, and an exhibition checklist. Text in French. Some general soiling to uncoated wraps. Very good. Item #8848
