Monograph published in conjunction with a traveling retrospective of Bauhaus master Paul Klee's works initially held at the the Museum of Modern Art, before traveling to the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Kunstmuseum in Bern, in 1987. Organized by art historian Carolyn Lanchner, the exhibition presented 250 paintings and watercolors alongside 100 prints and drawings spanning the entirety of Klee’s career. Then the first major retrospective of his work in over twenty years, the exhibition also included an in-depth presentation of large-format works produced by the artist in his last years in Bern. Illustrated with 300 color and black-and-white plates; edited and with a contribution by Lanchner, with essays by Ann Temkin, O.K. Werckmeister, and Jürgen Glaesmer; with a chronology, bibliography, exhibition history, and index. Unclipped dust jacket with some toning and edgewear. Very good. Item #8810
