New York: Reflux Editions, 1985. Quarto, publisher's black binding tape over blue wraps, original photo tipped in, upper wrap printed in black.

First edition of Barbara Moore’s artists’ cookbook of recipes from New York’s avant-garde. Moore originally conceived of the book in 1965 while serving as editor at Dick Higgins’s Something Else Press. While many of the contributors’s were directly associated with Fluxism, she was hesitant to publish it as a definitively Fluxus book as the group was facing infighting and possible dissolution. She collaborated with Fluxus leader George Maciunas on the initial manuscript, though for various reasons shelved it until after Maciunas death. This volume, published 20 years later by Moore’s ReFlux Editions, contains a revised and redesigned collection of recipes from 30 artists including Maciunas’s mother Leokadija, Dick Higgins, Ray Johnson, Alison Knowles, Nam June Paik, and La Monte Young. The recipes range from the traditional (Olga Adorno’s pot roast), to the erotic (Philip Corner’s Fig Pervert instructions) Carolee Schneemann, to the conceptual (Georges Brecht’s recipe for heating and drying earth). Moore has been instrumental in the development of major collections, including the Gilbert and Lila Silverman Fluxus Collection at MoMA, and the Barbara and Peter Moore Fluxus Collection at Harvard. More is an art historian, writer, and former rare-book dealer specializing in avant-garde art of the 1960s, '70s, and '80s. She was instrumental in the development of major collections, including the Gilbert and Lila Silverman Fluxus Collection at MoMA, and the Barbara and Peter Moore Fluxus Collection at Harvard. Designed with a hand-stenciled title by Brian Buczak; cover also has a tipped-in photo by Peter Moore. Fine. Uncommon. Item #8357
