The New Creative Computing Catalogue. U.S. Bicentennial – 1976 Edition

Morristown, NJ: Creative Computing, 1976. Tabloid, publisher's yellow and black-and-white printed newsprint.

Early issue of magazine/mail order catalog published by engineer and computing pioneer David Ahl, one of the earliest magazines dedicated to the home computing revolution. The publication covered a wide range of technical subjects related to early personal computing, and was characterized by its cheeky, countercultural approach to digital technology, incorporating fiction, jokes, cartoons, puzzles, games, and computer art. With an inside cover inspired by old farmer’s almanacs, this issue reprints early press on Ahl and the mag, showcases books and publications on programming, hardware, AI, gaming, computer literacy, and more, and features ads for Byte magazine, computer art prints (including Star Trek inspired art), t-shirts, and other merch. Notably, the cover fold is designed and illustrated by underground cartoonist R. Crumb, who contributed his art to more than one issue. Illustrated throughout in black-and-white and yellow. Dampstaining to bottom left corner, some toning and edgewear to newsprint. Very good. Item #7684
