Bones Brigade: Powell Peralta. Summer Tour '86. [Poster]

[Santa Barbara]: Powell Peralta, 1986. Color illustrated poster on heavy stock (measures 23" x 17.25").

Original promotional poster for Powell Peralta’s 1986 Bones Brigade tour. Founded in 1978 by Stanford-educated aeronautic engineer George Powell and skater entrepreneur Stacy Peralta, the skateboard company is best known for their skate team, the Bones Brigade. The team of competitive skaters – inspired by mid-1970's Venice skate crew Zephyr Competition Team (Z-Boys) – consisted of Tommy Guerrero, Tony Hawk, Lance Mountain, Mike McGill, Steve Caballero, and Rodney Mullen, at the time all aged between 11 and 15 years old. Formed to promote the brand, the Bones Brigade produced an immensely successful series of videos in 1982, revolutionary in the world of skateboard marketing, making the Brigade’s members world famous. From the mid-80s to 1990 the team made annual tours around the world to display their skatecraft, elevating the sport internationally and resulting in a proliferation of tours by other companies. An area below the poster's graphic has been left blank for venue-specific information to be filled in by hand. Corners with pinholes and small tears (lower left corner chipped), minor Fun-Tak residue to verso, occasional light creasing to surface. Very good. Rare. Item #7661
