Surrey, England: Maureen O. Paley, 1980. 1st Edition. Oblong 12mo, publisher's white cloth over stiff illustrated paper wraps.
Artist’s book by American-born East London gallerist Maureen Paley. Produced during a prolific period for artist’s books, this commentary on the act of looking comprises visual assessments–observation, listening comprehension, and evaluation–on three found photos taken within a domestic setting. The book was produced shortly after Paley graduated from the Royal College of Art and four years prior to opening her first gallery, which played a pivotal role in the Young British Artists movement. With Paley's card – "(young artist)" – laid in. Embossed library stamp of American artist and former art director of New York Times op-ed page Steven Guarnaccia to dedication page. Light soiling to wraps. Near fine. Item #7509
