New York: Details Publishing Corp. 1990. Quarto, publisher's stapled photo-illustrated wraps.
February 1990 issue of editor Annie Flanders's famed monthly New York fashion and nightlife magazine, with Lounge Lizard John Lurie on the cover. Flanders's 1980s downtown bible was bought by Condé Nast in 1988, with Flanders retained as editor for a few more years, before a complete makeover as a mainstream men's magazine. This issue captures the tension of that transitional period, as advertising pages for major brands swell and share space with niche labels and locales, and scenes from louche nights out abound. Features in this issue include remembrances of Cookie Mueller by Flanders and Glenn O'Brien, Stephen Saban in conversation with Lurie, Pamela Des Barres in convo with Michael Hutchence, a review of Marin Amis's London Fields, and more. Light edgewear to wraps. Very good. Item #7495
