Mexico City: Ediciones Mexicanas, 1951. 1st Edition. Slim folio, publisher's brown leatherette, upper board stamped in cobalt, original photo-illustrated dust jacket.

First edition of Mexican architect and critic Enrique Yáñez’s survey of contemporary Mexican architecture. Beginning in the 1930s during a period of economic and political reconstruction, architects renovated building designs by combining Mexican motifs with European modernist principles. The first volume in a series published by Ediciones Mexicanas, this monograph contains photos, plans and elevations for eighteen houses built between 1930 and 1950 by leading native architects, including Yáñez, Luis Barragan, Juan O'Gormon, Jose Villagran Garcia, Antonio Pastrana, and Juan Sordo Madalen. Text in English and Spanish. Light rubbing to spine-ends and corners; unclipped dust jacket with minor chipping to head of spine and flap folds. Near fine. Uncommon. Item #7423
