Inscribed catalog published in conjunction with an exhibition of work by the Mexican artist held at the Marlborough Gallery in New York and London in 1981 and 1982. Born in Oaxaca, Tamayo famously combined European modernist painting styles borrowed from Henri Matisse, Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso with Mexican folk motifs in his paintings and prints. Held the year the Rufino Tamayo Museum opened in Mexico City, the show presented seventeen recent canvases. Illustrated with color plates; with biography and exhibition checklist.
