Bread & Wine. An Erotic Tale of New York
New York: Juno Books, 1999. 1st Edition. Quarto, publisher's stiff illustrated paper wraps.
First edition of prolific sci-fi novelist Samuel Delany’s graphic novel, signed and dated by him in the year of publication on the title page. Autobiographical in nature, the book tells the love story between the writer and his longterm partner Dennis Rickett, a homeless book vendor he met on West 72nd street. The book was conceived by Delany with graphic artist and martial arts instructor Mia Wolff, whose expressive black-and-white pen-and-ink work illustrates the volume, accompanied by quotes from Friedrich Holderlin's poem "Bread and Wine." With an introduction by Alan Moore, author of Watchmen and V for Vendetta. First printing, with complete number row to copyright page. Corners slightly rubbed, else fine. Item #7343
