Ostfildern, Germany: Cantz, 1993. First Edition. Octavo, publisher's photo-illustrated stiff paper wraps.
Gerhard Richter is known for his abstract/photorealistic/blur-style chameleon body of work, and also for being notoriously camera-shy. Belgian photographer Benjamin Katz focuses on his artist friends (such as Richter, Marie Trockel, Brice Marden) and the contexts of their lives as artists. Katz's candid portraits capture Richter's painting process in his tidy Cologne studio, located on the second floor of a former factory in the city center. Illustrated throughout with numerous black-and-white photo, taken between 1981 and 1993. Text in English and German. Ursus Books sticker to inside rear wrap. Lower left corner slightly banged. Near fine. Item #721
