Anybody at Home?

Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, c.1945. Early Printing. Oblong 12mo, publisher's black binding cloth over stapled illustrated paper wraps, each page with movable flap.

Early printing of a flap book by German-born illustrator H.A. Rey. Best known for the Curious George series of children's books, Rey and his wife Margret, a writer and fellow illustrator, produced several pioneering small-sized "lift-the-flap" books, including Anybody at Home? (originally published in 1939), How Do You Get There? (1941), and Where’s My Baby? (1943). This book features depictions of various habitats with flip panels at the edge of each page that reveal the residence’s occupants, including various animals, people, and vehicles. Vibrantly illustrated in color. Some internal and external soiling and edgewear. Very good. Item #6684
