A former co-owner of Times Square paperback shop Bookmasters and a one-time Grove Press editor, Kasak later helmed the now-defunct Masquerade Books, once the world’s largest publishers of erotica, along with gay and lesbian imprints Bad Boy and Rosebud. Beginning in the early 1990s, the bimonthly magazine featured erotic fiction, book and video reviews, fetish photography, exposés, interviews with sex workers and industry insiders, and more.
