Mostly dating from the early to mid-60s, these black-and-white photos demonstrate Arbus's growth as a photographer over time and her ability to personalize commercial work. Includes her contributions to major magazines Harper's Bazaar, New York Times Magazine, and Esquire among others, with images of several artists and cultural figures, such as Marcel Duchamp, Jayne Mansfield, Susan Sontag, and Coretta Scott King. With the photographer's original commentary, a biographical essay by Thomas W. Southall, and an introduction by Arbus's daughter Doon and art director, painter, and her last lover before her death, Marvin Israel.
